History / Purpose

FATAL SONG was originally commissioned by Leon Major, Artistic Director of the Maryland Opera Studio, for the Women in Opera Conference the University of Maryland. The Conference was attended by performers, producers, musicologists and died-in-the–wool opera fans.
FATAL SONG was a hit.

Since then, FATAL SONG has played to sold-out audiences in many venues -- as a cabaret, as an opera fundraiser, and as a performance piece for young singers at the start of their careers.

Celebrated by critics, opera fans – and people who think they don’t like opera – FATAL SONG is guaranteed to invigorate your opera season.
